Welcome to Hill Country Mental Health and Developmental Disabilities Centers

At Hill Country MHDD Centers our purpose is to help people have positive control over the life they desire and find satisfying, and are recognized and valued for their contributions to their communities. Through our adult and child behavioral health, intellectual and developmental disabilities, substance abuse, crisis care, and justice involved services programs, we promote hope, independence, community integration and recovery.

It is with deep and heartfelt sadness that we share the news of a tragic accident involving two beloved members of our Hill Country MHDD family. Joan Cortez and her son, Cody Cortez, were involved in a serious crash. Joan is currently receiving medical care. Tragically, Cody, along with Joan’s husband, Dan, and her niece, Courtney, lost their lives in the accident. Joan and Cody have been a meaningful part of our community, and this loss is felt profoundly by all who know and love them.

A GoFundMe has been set up by loved ones to help support Joan and her family during this unimaginable time. The link can be found here: https://gofund.me/932a1bc5

If you would like to give the family a card or flowers, items can be dropped off at  the One Schreiner Center: 819 Water Street, Suite 300 Kerrville, Tx 78028. We will ensure they are transported to the family with care.

Please join us in holding Joan and the entire Cortez family close in your hearts. Our community mourns alongside them, and we extend our deepest sympathy, strength, and love.
